Application Overview

Testing a centrifugal compressor essentially compares a compressor operating in a test environment to that of the expected real world installation.

 

In general, compressor test facilities do not use flammable gases during the testing process which may result in a test gas composition that is not the same as your design gas composition.  Also, during testing, the compressor is usually operated at lower pressures, lower temperatures and lower speeds compared to the designed conditions.

The Compressor Testing application accounts for these differences and allows the user to compare the test results to the expected “design” conditions.  The application plots the “design” compressor curve and overlays the calculated “test” data points on the same plot and in the same flow the head units as the design compressor curve.  The design efficiency is also plotted below the design curve an in like manner, the test efficiency data points overlay on the design efficiency data.
